2. Citurs cultivars improvement projects : Including introduction, crossbreeding and production of healthy budwood source trees with shoot-tip grafting. Budwood source trees are preserved in isolated screenhouses. Among the 159 cultivar colledted,95 of them are specific-pathogen free by shoot-tip grafting and heat therapy and annual production of propagative material is two hundred thousand buds.

3. Pineapple breeding and crop management: To improve pineapple varieties by means of cross-breeding and clonal selection for developing table use varieties has been conducted. Meanwhile, crop management is emphasized .The department has bred and developed Tainung No.4, 6, 13, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 21 together, these varieties maintain the supply of fresh pineapple in Taiwan year-round.

By using STG (Shoot Tip Grafting) method for virus-free at Chia-yi Agriculture Experiment Station of TARI. There are 43 varieties,7 lines ,191 STG stocks for virus test .89 varieties ,10 lines, 341 breed's stocks and 23 varieties ,346 foundation stocks maintained in screen house at CAES. Up to now, totally 9,038 virus-free buds of ponkan, taukan, etc., had been released to Citrus Scion Nursery at CAES.
