Abstract:

Meloialogyne incognita and Pratylenchus coffeae are the major parasitic nematodes of bulbous flowers in Taiwan. Freesia bud crinkling caused by Aphelenchoides besseyi was a first report in Taiwan. Treatment with phenamiphose, chitinous amendment, urea and Ca(CN)₂ could reduce the population of M. incognita and P. coffeae effectively in order. Field experiments indicated the addition of urea at 500kg/_ha.dossage in combination with PE sheets mulching have very good control of nematode as same as that by phenamiphose. Methyl bromide fumigation , 100 g/m³ for 30 minutes, at reduced preseures (50 mmHg) at 18±2 c can kill both nematode and the eggs of Aphelenchoides besseyi.
